The Story
Mammonth Cave, June 2018
While sitting in the Visitor Center with fellow CBTV students and chaperones waiting for our tour to begin, I spotted a sign displaying: “Passport to Your National Parks” Being a presidential library geek with a passport book from my visits I thought I would take a look to see what this is all about.
After our tour of the cave, which was very cool, I went to the gift shop to learn more. I was shocked to learn how many units are a part of the National Park Service, 419! I had always heard about the big 62 but on that day I did not even know there were the "62". If you asked me I would have said Yellowstone and Yosemite. I was very green to this new world. As I flipped through the book I was amazed. As my mind started to consider this I thought to myself that I would never be able to "finish" this book in my lifetime. My thoughts quickly moved to my 2 wonderful young daughters and I thought maybe I can pass "THE BOOK", as it is known as now, down to them and they can continue!
I bought the book! Got my first stamp at the Mammoth Cave Gift Shop and my life changed that day although I did not know it them.

The Book:
June 2019, one year of explorations I took an inventory of the places I have seen, 64!
The Jacket:
THE BOOK is awesome but I could not really show other my explorations so I decided to get patches of the places I have gone to in my life.
I was able to secure a blank baseball jersey from my cousin in-law the fall of 2018. It all started with a few patches of the places I had been to before THE BOOK and now every place I visit I get my stamp for THE BOOK and buy a patch. Each patch has a story and a memory for me!
