Hampton national historic site (NHS)
from THE BOOK (Passport to your National Parks)
"This Georgian mansion offers an exceptional look at a 19th-century slave estate. When finished in 1790, Hampton was the largest house in the United States. Its is also the story of the economic and moral changes that made forced servitude in the United States obsolete."
During the Covid-19 stay at home order schools were closed and classes were moved to be online. Teaching Accounting I knew my students would need a mental break from the challenges of all classes online. As a result I created a Mental Break Assignment, MBA, for students to complete. This assignment was the third in the series where I asked students to explore NPS.gov and pick a National Park Service unit to learn about. With over 419 to choose from my student, Sydney, chose the Hampton NHS!
I then thought of my mentor, teacher, best man, and adopted dad, Billy, who told me "You should put your pics of your National Park trips online and caption them so everyone can enjoy" Well, PopPop, thanks to you and Sydney there is to the first page of the BobbyHO Explorations!

"I really liked this assignment because I learned a lot about various historic sites across the nation. It really opened me up to how much America has grown since the 1700 and I think it's amazing that the country still continues to grow and makes adjustments when we need to."
